Kilfian online has been developed by Kilfian Community Development Association to promote the interests of the Kilfian Community on the web.

 

Kilfian Community Development Association was formed in July 1999.

Members: Margaret Munnelly, Paddy O'Boyle, Joseph Noone, Tom Hoban, Anthony McGreevy and Sean Gilvarry.

Previous to its inception, there were four active voluntary groups in the parish: Parish Pastoral Council, Community Care, Community Alert and the G.A.A. The work done by each of those groups had a very positive impact on the life of the parish. An area that could not be served by any of the group was to source funding from some state agencies and it was to fill this void, that the Development Association was established.

Projects in which the association has played a pivotal role, include: Village Enhancement, McElroy-Fleming Monument, publishing the "Fleming" booklet, upgrading the road to Kilfian cemetery, easing some dangerous bends, signposting, Community Radio, Parish Telephone Directory, and acquisition of computers, photocopier and furniture.

This work could not be done without the support of: Mayo County Council, the local County Councillors and Council Staff, Moy Valley Resources I.R.D., Clár and the support of the local community.
